What is Alopecia?
We all know that hair helps us determine our identity. When a relationship ends, we change our hair. Something great happens in our life, we celebrate by changing our hair. So when we lose our hair due to something called alopecia, we lose all control of being able to change our hair and alopecia makes that decision for us.
Alopecia is an auto-immune condition resulting in partial or total hair loss and there are several different types. There are many reasons why alopecia may happen to you: genetics, trauma to the scalp, or self-infliction due to specific hairstyles or hair tugging.
Unfortunately, there is no cure for alopecia; however, there is now a solution to help create a new hairline or conceal any bald patches that may have developed.
Scalp micropigmentation (often referred to as a hair tattoo or SMP) is a form of cosmetic tattooing which could be ultimately life-changing for someone who suffers from alopecia. SMP will help replicate the appearance of a closely shaved head by implanting hundreds of microdots using a natural pigment into the top layer of the skin.
Will SMP help?
SMP is a non-invasive treatment that will not prevent any potential hair growth in the future. Scalp micropigmentation results are 100% natural and completely undetectable, no one will be able to tell you have had an SMP treatment.
